Subaru Share the Love Event

Subaru Share the Love Event

For the fourth year in a row, Montco SAAC is partnering with Subaru for their Share the Love Event. When you purchase or lease a new Subaru between now and January 2nd and select Meals on Wheels as your charity of choice, and the dealership will make a $250 donation toward ending senior hunger and isolation.

Montco SAAC serves nutritious lunches and dinners to over 350 homebound seniors throughout Montgomery County Monday through Friday. With nutritionally balanced lunches and dinners accompanied by wellness checks from dedicated volunteers, Meals on Wheels provides so much more than just a meal. Montco SAAC’s home delivered meal program provides peace of mind, empowering the seniors of Montgomery County to remain safely, securely, and independently in their own homes. Subaru’s Share the Love Event helps ensure that we are able to continue to serve the seniors who benefit from our Meals on Wheels program.

Help feed Seniors in our communities who may go hungry without your help.

Make your miles matter! Join us at this feel-good community run, and help make a difference in the daily life of a home-bound senior in our local community.

For some people Meals on Wheels is a solution to a short-term problem. For others the volunteers are the only people they'll see each day. In neighborhoods across lower Montgomery County Montco SAAC's Meals on Wheels program is a lifeline for over 350 seniors every day, and the need continues to grow!

Recently, a man working at the library told me how grateful he was to receive Meals on Wheels after his knee replacement last year. For this man, and for people like Shirley who depend on their wheelchair to get around the house, grocery shopping and cooking are virtually impossible.

You can make a difference right here in our community by participating in the Outrunning Senior Hunger 5k Run and 3k Walk on September 15th, or by making a donation in support of this important event. We need everyone's help to keep up with the demand and avoid a waiting list of seniors in need. All proceeds benefit the Meals on Wheels program of Montco SAAC.

If taking a walk with your dog or going for a run on the morning of Saturday, September 15th sounds good to you, please join us at Montgomery County Community College before the 9:00 am start! And if you can't join us (or would prefer to sleep in!), you can still support the cause by making a donation from this site. It may be summer now, but September is right around the corner. Act now!

Montco SAAC involves, enriches and empowers older adults with connectedness, wellness and independence through recreational, nutritional, educational and creative activities, social opportunities and civic engagement through our Norristown & Ambler senior centers and our Meals on Wheels program. (The Senior Adult Activities Center of Montgomery County (Montco SAAC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.)

Race Times: 9:00 a.m. for the 5k run and 9:10 a.m. for the 3k walk.

Shirts: Guaranteed until 08/24/2018.

Course Info: Closed to traffic. The race includes rolling hills and a fast finish.

SEPTEMBER 16, 2017

Meals on Wheels 5K Run & 3K Walk Benefit Event

The Senior Adult Activities Center of Montgomery County (Montco SAAC) hosted the 7th annual Outrunning Senior Hunger 5K Run and 3K Walk at Montgomery County Community College on September 16th for the benefit of its Meals on Wheels program.

With the help of 25 sponsors, 92 individual and business donors, more than 30 volunteers, and 193 runners and walkers, this event is on target to surpass its goal of raising $20,200 in service to Montgomery County’s homebound seniors! 100% of these funds will help ensure that Montco SAAC’s home delivered meal service will continue to provide meals and daily wellness checks to residents 60 and older throughout lower Montgomery County.

"Everyone who participated in this year’s Outrunning Senior Hunger 5K Run / 3K Walk helped change lives. Montco SAAC's Meals on Wheels team serves over 350 area seniors," stated Whitney Lingle, Montco SAAC’s Associate Director. "The love, socialization and meals we provide can’t happen without the funds raised by these community events. It takes a village to meet our mission, and we're fortunate to have such a wonderful community standing with us."

Just like Meals on Wheels is a group effort, this event’s success is thanks to all of its supporters. So thank you, to everyone who helped us reach our goal for this event, and more importantly, for empowering those who depend upon Meals on Wheels to maintain their independence. We look forward to seeing you on Race Day, September 2018!
