January Events
Six Mondays, January 11 thru February 25: Urban Line Dance
Darlene is back with Boomer U for the new year. Dance and exercise your way in 2010 with us. 7-8:30pm, $58. You are welcome to try this class for $10. Registration/payment due by January 7.

Monday, February 8: Getting Paid to Talk: Making Money with Your Voice
An Introduction to professional voiceovers. Have you ever been told that you have a great voice? This class is for you! We’ll explore the aspects of voiceover work for TV, film, radio, audio books, etc. in your area. We will cover all the basics, including how to prepare your demo, be successful and earn great $$ in this exciting field. You’ll hear examples of professional demos by voice actors and get a chance to record your own demo! This class is informative, lots of fun, and a great first step for anyone interested in voice acting professionally.

Tuesday, February 9: Breathe For Your Life
The secret to having more energy, less stress, better sleep and enhancing your ‘wholeness’ is right under your nose! We’ll explore how to use breathing to trigger your relaxation response. Discover the amazing impact of conscious breathing on the mind’s ability to focus and be calm, to open the heart and inspire the spirit. We’ll also spend time in ‘conscious breathing’, a technique that helps to alter your state of body and mind. 6:30-9pm, $25. Registration/payment due February 4.
Two Tuesdays, February 16 and 23: Connect With Your Spirit
We all have our unique way of connecting to our spirituality. Many spiritual teachers encourage us to explore and to question. Yet many of us grew up in an atmosphere of rules and unquestioned rituals. In this workshop, we’ll explore what we learned as children, how some of those beliefs might be limiting your connection and expression, what you’re looking for, and some practices to connect with your own spirituality. We all have our unique gifts to share with the world because of our unique connections to spirit. Unleash your higher self!

Wednesday, February 17: Antiques Appraisal
You’ve seen it on TV; maybe you’ve wondered about the history and worth of something you own. Auctioneer Barry Slosberg will give you a value and you’ll have a chance to learn about antiques. Bring one of your treasures: furniture, photographs, glass/china/pottery, jewelry, vintage toys, dolls. (No weapons, books, linens or sports collectibles.) $10 (You may bring a 2nd item for an add’l $5.), 7-8:30.

Monday, February 22: Handi-Women: Landscape Lighting
Learn how you can brighten up your gardens and walkways while enhancing the security of your home with low voltage landscape lighting. You’ll learn the step by step process in this fun and interactive class. Low voltage lighting is safer, and more energy efficient than conventional lighting, and you can change or add more lights anytime you like. Explore new possibilities in showcasing your home. 7-9pm, $25.
